This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on theauthenticnews.com, and how to control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to store. Some are needed for the site to work at all; others tell us how the site is being used. Some are set by us and some by third parties whose services we use.
What we use
Strictly necessary
These keep the site working and cannot be switched off from here. They include cookies WordPress sets when you leave a comment, so the form can remember your name and email for next time; cookies that keep you signed in if you have an account; and cookies our caching layer uses to serve the right version of a page. They do not track you across other sites.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to see which stories are read, how long people stay and where readers arrive from. These cookies collect aggregated information — page views, approximate location by country or region, referring site, device type. We use it to decide what to cover, not to identify individual readers.
Advertising
Where advertising is shown on the site, ad partners may set cookies to measure whether an ad was seen and to limit how often it is repeated. Any such cookies are set by those partners under their own policies.
Embedded content
Some articles embed content from other services — for example an Instagram post, a video or a social media card. Those services can set their own cookies when their content loads, exactly as if you had visited them directly.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them, either entirely or per site. The settings are usually under Privacy, Security or Site settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working, such as the comment form.
To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, Google publishes a browser add-on for that purpose. Most browsers also offer a tracking-protection setting.
Changes
If the cookies we use change, we will update this page. Questions can be sent through our contact page.
